Born in 1962
A famous Russian pianist, keyboard player, composer, leader of music ensembles and jazz producer. Andriy was born in Dnipropetovsk in 1962 and graduated from Petrazavodsk’s filial of the Leningrad Conservatory in 1987. He debuted as a singer in a vocal troupe “Gamma”, later as a pianist he organised an own quintet (1988). Since 1992 Andriy has been living and working in St.-Petersburg.. The most well-known music collectives he worked in were quartet with Andriy Ryabov (guitar, 1992), a duo with Viktor Dvoskin (bass-guitar, 1993). As a pianist of the group of an American saxophonist Richie Cole Andriy took part in the “Nornberg Jazz” festival in Germany (1992). Also he was a leader of an international group “Interjazz” (1993-1997), performed in a duo with Arcadiy Shilkloper (1998-1998), and in a well-known quartet with Igor Butman, Eddie Gomez and Lenny White. He was a leader of a famous jazz club “JFC” in St.-Petersburg (1995-1999), a founder of a group “Without Address” (1998), an organiser of numerous concerts and tours of famous jazz musicians in Russia and Ukraine. Among his music partners there are Denise Perrier, Napua Devoy (female singers), Paul Bollenback, John Abercrombie (guitar), Ravi Coltrane (saxophone). Andriy is a leader of so-called “Brazilian band” where he performs and records with best Brazil music performers (1998-2003) and an author of well-known jazz pieces – “City at Night”, “A Tale Under the Rain”, “In a neglected park”, “Dancing With an Alligator”. Also Andriy Kondakov is a participator of jazz festivals in the USA, France, Germany, Norway and Sweden. Discography:
