During playing he uses the method known as ”tapping”, which allows each of his hands to play independent musical parts. As French authorities said, he plays “imaginary folklore”.

In 1980s he played in a well-known music group “Sato”, in 1990s he moved to Crimea started working as a solo performer. Izmailov took part in all Ukrainian and Russian jazz festivals. From the middle of 1990s he has been touring abroad, taking part in festivals in Germany, the Netherlands, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Poland, Italy, France, Switzerland, Spain, the USA.
