The Ensemble was created in 2001 in Kiev children academy of Arts named by Mykola Chimberdgi. “Little Band Academy” consists of children and teenagers who are the students of the Academy. The chief of the Ensemble is a conductor, arranger, composer and trumphetist, an Honoured person of Art of Ukraine, Viktor Basyouk. He’s got a big experience in working with children who play jazz. Before he left for Kiev in 2000, Basyouk had been directing the Kriviy Rig children jazz big-band. Its previous director was the first orchestra leader Oleksander Gebel.

The Ensemble distinguishes itself by clearness and experience of playing togather, “adult” sound and style sensation. Young musicians perform arrangements adopted for children by Basyouk. The performers’ stuff always rotates to give the possibility to reach the real jazz ensemble to as many children as possible. Not in vain Basyouk is called “the hope of jazz Ukraine” and “Little Band Academy” – “the forge of national jazz staff”. The Ensemble performs o lot via Ukraine, it took part in International jazz-festival “Dniprogastrol” and played in the concert with a legendary Austrian jazz-bend “Vienna Art Orchestra” (2002).

“Little Band Academy” is the winner of the second city competition “Children play jazz” (2003).
