Born in 1956
A well-known althorn player, also performs on such instruments as flugel-horn, cornet and various of folk instruments – yagd-horn, Alpine horn, bugle, etc. Schilkloper is a virtuoso musician who has achieved considerable success as a performer of academic, classic and folk music. He graduated from the Military music school (1969-1973), played as the soloist of the “Bolshoy” theatre (1978-1985), the soloist of the Moscow Philharmonic’s symphonic orchestra (1985-1989). At the same time Schilkloper performed as a improvisational musician. He played in a duo with Mihail Katernikov (bass-guitar, 1983), as a member of music group “Three O” (1984-1985). Schilkloper reached world fame after organising a duo with a pianist Mihail Alperin. It crossed with concerts all the world and made a record on “ECM” studio. Also Shilkrloper took part in “Moscow Art Trio” (1991-1997), “Vienna Art Trio”, was the soloist of “Vienna Art Orchestra” (1998-2002). He took part in numerous of international jazz projects, was laureate and winner of almost all world-famous competitions and festivals. Among the partners of Arkadiy one can admit Vladimir Volkov, Andriy Kondakov, Sergey Starostin, Lew Soloff, Herb Ellis, Lionel Hampton, Elvin Jones, Enrico Rava. Schilkloper won the title “Musician of the Year” in Russia for many times.
Schilkloper frequently visits Ukraine with concerts. Since 1995 he has been playing refined solo programmes and collaborating with academic musicians. Arkadiy played with such Ukrainian musicians as Yuriy Shepeta, Mazim Gladetskiy. Also he took part in recording of the new album of “Er. J. Orchestra” (2003). Discography:
