Born on September 21, 1958 in Mykolayiv, Ukraine.
He graduated from Kyiv State Conservatory as a musician.
Andrey Tolchanov played in different orchestras, worked as a sound engineer in the Dim Zvukozapysu sound-recording studio of the State TV & Broadcast company. Firstly Tolchanov presented himself as a producer when his own band Andreevskiy Spusk was recording in 1989. He was among the organisers of Kris De Burg’s tour to Kiev. In 1996 Andrey Tolchanov created his own sound-recording studio, the “Dynasty”. For seven years of its functioning there has been recorded and released more than 70 CD’s of various music genres and trends (Green Grey, Cool Before, Mad Heads, Sergiy Ovsyannikov’s Group, Tony Guerrerro, Arcadiy Shilkloper, Olga Voychenko, Volodymyr Solyanyk and many other performers from Ukraine, Russia, the USA, etc.).
Sound engineers and managers, who learned to work at the Dynasty nowadays occupy the key positions on Ukrainian Show-business market (Oleg “Biliy” Shevchenko – sound-producer and chief manager of the “VV” group, Eduard Klim – management director of the Lavina Music recording company, Igor Kurylovych – sound engineer of Taisia Povaliy, etc.).
In December, 2002 there was a concert of the legendary group Kobza, produced by Tolchanov and taking place at the main concert hall of the country – the Ukraine Palace.
From 2000 the name of Tolchanov has been indissoluble connected with different generations of "Kobza". Tolcahnov is an author and producer of the "ZVUK Jazz Collection" (collection of famous Ukrainian jazzmen), an owner and chief producer of the recording company ZVUK Records.
